Health and Community Chaplaincy Committee
The Health and Community Chaplaincy Committee seeks to further the work of chaplaincy - bringing God's love and compassion to many who are outside the church in a range of settings; in hospitals, schools, universities, prisons, the police force,in sporting teams, ministry families and in the deaf community.
The Committee currently funds the employment of five full and part time Presbyterian Chaplains :
Rev. Keith Bell @ the Royal Children's Hospital
Mrs Anne Lawry @ the Epworth Free Masons Hospital (Maternity Unit)
Rev. Wally Gear - Kirkbrae Chaplain (in conjunction with Social Services Committee)
Miss Elspeth Slater - Pastoral Support Worker to Ministry Wives within the PCV
Rev Tony and Mrs Anne Salisbury - Ministry to the Deaf Community
(in conjunction with the Ministry Development Committee).
We also support a network of voluntary visiting chaplains and AFES workers from within the denomination who minister in many of the fields mentioned above.
The HCCC is currently developing links for chaplaincy training streams in theological courses being offered at the Presbyterian Theological College in Box Hill and through external training providers. For those interested in specialised training for medical and schools chaplaincy as well as general chaplaincy and emergency ministry training, please contact the committee's convener, Mrs Kathy James.
