Purpose of Committee

The Committee, subject to the direction of the General Assembly, ensures that adequate provision is made for the maintenance of the ministry within parishes, and for all ministerial appointments, and in so doing:

1. recommends annually the Minimum Remuneration (stipend and non-cash benefit components) for the ensuing financial year, and any alterations to minimum terms of settlement
2. recommends annually the amount of sustentation qualifying stipend for the ensuing financial year
3. receives and approves Annual Parish Reports from parishes, special purpose congregations and home mission stations (this provides a further level of scrutiny to see that parishes are operating financially in a responsible manner)
4. declares terms of settlement for ministers in parishes, or for the purpose of appointments and calls
5. administers Assembly funds to support ministry within the parishes by means of grants
6. administers the Long Service Leave Fund, and authorises payments when leave is taken
7. offers advice to ministers and their families regarding terms of settlement, and occasionally assists with the complexities of relations with Centrelink
8. proffers advice and supplies information on request from parishes, presbyteries and committees.
